State takes steps toward banning persistent PFAS chemicals in food packaging

 

Washington State has taken an important step towards managing the use of PFAS chemicals in everyday food packaging.

New details in a report that the Department of Ecology identifies additional toxic chemicals are being used in everyday food packaging. The report outlines a two-year phase-out for manufacturers and retailers to remove PFAS from their food packaging products.
